Daylight harvesting control can contribute toward LEED credits in several new
construction categories. Daylight autonomy can also contribute to LEED points. AXIS Gear can contribute to earning up to 15 out of the possible 110 LEED NC v4 points, within the following categories:

1 POINT - Light pollution reduction (Sustainable Sites Credit 8)

To minimize light trespass from the building and site, reduce sky-glow to increase night
sky access, improve nighttime visibility through glare reduction and reduce development
impact from lighting on nocturnal environments.

4 TO 11 POINTS - Energy & Atmosphere (Credit 1)

To achieve increasing levels of energy performance beyond the prerequisite standard to
reduce environmental and economic impacts associated with excessive energy use.

1 POINT - Controllability of systems – thermal comfort (Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 6.2)

To provide a high level of thermal comfort system control by individual occupants or
groups in multi-occupant spaces (e.g. classrooms or conference areas) and promote
their productivity, comfort, and well-being.

1 POINT - Daylight & views – Daylight: Views for 75% of the space (Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 8.1)

To provide building occupants with a connection between indoor spaces and the
outdoors through the introduction of daylight and views into the regularly occupied
areas of the building.

1 POINT - Daylight & Views – Daylight: Views for 90% of the space (Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 8.2)

FAQ

How is Gear powered?

There are two ways that Gear can be powered:


1 - Solar Panel

Gear's internal battery is continuously recharged via a slim solar panel that fits discreetly on your window. Inside the solar panel are 12 AA batteries that act as backup power.


2 - Wall Plug

Gear ships with a standard US wall plug with a 10 foot cable.

Will we need software?

No. Gear can be operated and set up all from the on-device controls.

However, the complementary AXIS app can be used for advanced features such as mobile control, scheduling, device management and more.

Does Gear require a remote?

No. Gear can be operated via it’s on-device controls or via the complementary AXIS app.

How long does it take for orders to arrive?

Orders typically arrive within 5 - 7 business days. However, expedited shipping options are available to facilitate your project’s needs.

Is there a discount for bulk purchases?

Orders placed for ADA compliance are already greatly discounted from MSRP. Further discounts are available for orders of 30 units or more. Please contact us at [email protected] for more information.
